L'Odyssée de mes électrons est un roman porté par une voix singulière, celle d'Eïon, un électron né au moment du Big Bang, qui traverse depuis l'origine la matière, les corps et les époques sans jamais disparaître.
Dès les premières pages, Eïon se présente comme une conscience élémentaire, mémoire vivante de la lumière et témoin du surgissement du cosmos. Immortel et omniprésent, il circule dans les premières formes de matière, puis dans le vivant, devenant à la fois observateur et acteur de l'histoire de l'Univers.
Le récit se construit par fragments, selon une logique non linéaire assumée. Chaque incarnation devient une scène autonome : Eïon traverse les grandes figures et les moments clés de l'histoire humaine. De Lucy à Newton, des excès de Caligula aux ambitions de Napoléon, des orgasmes de Messaline aux fulgurances d'Einstein, des expérimentations de Frankenstein aux élans divins et libidineux d'Amenhotep III. Il explore tour à tour la science, le pouvoir, le désir, la création et la destruction.
Au fil de ces traversées, une cohérence se dessine. Eïon découvre que la matière conserve la trace de tout ce qu'elle traverse. Inspiré notamment par les travaux de Jean Émile Charon, le roman développe l'idée d'une mémoire fondamentale inscrite au cœur même de la matière, où conscience et énergie se confondent.
Cette exploration prend une dimension particulière dans les chapitres consacrés aux grandes découvertes scientifiques. Newton, puis Einstein, apparaissent comme des points de bascule. La lumière, d'abord perçue comme une unité, se révèle multiple. La gravité, d'abord pensée comme une force, devient une relation, presque une émotion. À travers eux, Eïon comprend que les lois physiques traduisent une forme de lien entre les êtres et les choses.
Parallèlement, le récit assume une dérive volontaire vers l'irrévérence et le chaos. Eïon, narrateur lucide et provocateur, mêle le sacré et le profane, la rigueur scientifique et les élans les plus charnels, révélant une humanité traversée par les mêmes forces fondamentales que la matière.

A Sprawling, Sincere Odyssey
"The Odyssey of My Electrons" is one of the most audacious narrative conceits I've come across: an immortal electron as narrator, drifting from the Big Bang through Newton, Cleopatra, Napoleon, and eventually into the reader's own hand. That premise alone earns the book its title — it genuinely covers everything, because its narrator has quite literally been everywhere.
What elevates it beyond a clever gimmick is the emotional undertow running beneath all the noise and wordplay. The book's quietest passages — a captive orca, a chapter that gathers six unrelated electrons into a single moment of shared suffering, the final line handing the "breath" to the reader — are genuinely moving, and they retroactively justify the wilder, funnier detours that surround them. Boris clearly did his homework too: the science, the mythology, and the family history woven through the book feel researched, not decorative.
It's a big, generous, unruly book that trusts its reader to keep up across cosmology, comedy, and grief in the same chapter — and when it lands, it lands hard.
